Welcome to Faroe Islands

Well, we paid for a the Mykines boat tour, but due to high surf, the captain decided it wasn’t safe to go there. Hey, I get it; safety first. Instead we tooled around the bay for a little over an hour as he took us to Mulafossa falls and Draginar, but the weather did not cooperate with us and fogged in most of the impressive sights. Can’t control the weather! We only saw a couple puffins in the water from a distance. To me, it wasn’t worth the money we paid to take myself and two daughters on this boat ride. My daughters had fun and that’s all that counts, right? You win some, you lose some.

Breathtaking scenery with an amazing tour guide!

We had a lovely evening with Selma and Tordur - delicious food (freshly caught!), lively conversation, and even shared music and some knitting admiring 😊. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful food tour with the farmer. It was such a special experience. The farmer told us about raising sheep in the Faroe Islands, including the challenges and rewards. He prepared various meats for us to try on homemade bread.

David was an excellent tour guide who took his time to explain the culture and offer interesting insights into life on the farm. After meeting the sheep, we went to the farmer’s beautiful home to enjoy bowls of soup and homemade bread served by his wife. It was such a treat to be welcomed into their family home. We highly recommend this tour.

A must do whilst in the Faroe Islands, especially with the really knowledgeable guide.

We went out for an evening fishing trip with Niklas and WOW, we are speechless. We caught a bucket full of cod and whiting, and Niklas was so patient with the weather, helping us learn throughout the trip and telling us about the island. He made the whole experience fun, relaxed, and unforgettable. The highlight was getting to drive the boat at the end! Could not recommend this trip more highly. Thank you Niklas for such an amazing evening!

Nice tour and good fishing instructions from the captain. I guess the tour was fully booked - we were 12 persons onboard. Both my wife and I caught fish, cod, flounder and haddock. Our hotel in Torshavn (Hilton) had a place for the filets in one of their freezers. We packed the fish well on our departure day in our check in luggage in order to keep it frozen. The fish was still frozen when we came home.
Area for improvement: Safety instructions before leaving harbour. Such were lacking on our tour.

Knowledgeable guide Jon, giving good insight to why the British placed forces at the Fareos Islands and how the Islands were defended, including a good understanding of the strategic importances for the convoys, especially those going to Murmansk. The tour also included stories from the time on how this affected the civil population. If you are a little interested in WW2, the tour will most probably provide new insight to the WW2 story. Recommended.

A day that captures all the drama of the landscape, the character of traditional villages and life with the sheep, especially during lambing season - and worth any weather challenges, but make sure you come prepared. .

We highly recommend booking this tour through Hogni at Guide to Faroe Islands. We initially expressed interest in 2025, but deferred our trip until May 2026. Hogni answered all our questions beforehand. The liberal cancellation policy gave us reassurance to book early, and thankfully we did not need it.
We were very happy we visited in May, before the busier summer tourist season. The weather was comfortable, and we encoutered less rain than expected. We are glad we brought good hiking shoes.
Our guide, Johan, was terrific. He drove us to many places inaccessible to larger tour groups, and allowed us senior travelers to explore at our own pace. He patiently responded to all of our questions about the islands' history and culture. The lunches and beverages provided each day on the road were beyond our expectations. By the end of our visit, we felt like a member of his family. Johan is the best ambassador the Faroe Islands could ever ask for.
Our hotel, the Hafnia, was comfortable. One recommendation is to make dinner reservations well in advance. We found that tables at the best restaurants were fully booked several days out.
The 8 Day Tour Package is very comprehensive, but the warmth of our experience has left us with a desire to return at some point in the future.

Nice tour, however the tour was postponed by 5 hours, 30 minutes prior to departure. Respect for nature you need to have and if the weather is unsafe, it is very OK to move. However this should have been communicated earlier than 30 minutes prior to departure.
Luckily, we had other plans in the area, and we just swapped around on the planned sequence order.
When the tour took place it was cut short and we were never close to Gasadalur nor the Mularfossur. At the time I thought I may remembered wrongly how the tour should be. Nothing was said by the crew. This is a disappointment as the Mularfossur from seaside was one looked forward to.
We neither did go through the arch, but we had a very nice view. The dropping of the sail through was expected as I have understood that the chance of going through the arch is about 50%, maybe less.

Great tour! Knowledgeable about the local area and took us to get fantastic food. Visited restaurants I had no idea about and ones I wanted to visit previously but didn't have time, so definitely worth it!

Second time I have done this tour and it is still very good! Would recommend to anyone
