From the harbour in Vestmanna, you will sail in a local boat to a place out of this world. These cliffs are one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Faroe Islands. Boat tours are made from April to September to Vestmanna Bird Cliffs and departs from the village Vestmanna. It takes less than half an hour to sail to the sheer cliffs, sea stacks rising sky-high from the ocean, and dark basalt grottos.
Vestmanna Bird Cliffs are known as Vestmannabjørgini by the locals. These cliffs make up 5 kilometre of the coastline on Streymoy island north of Vestmanna. There is a fantastic wildlife here as birds are nesting in the cliffs and thrive flying in the untouched surroundings.
Boat tours to the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs take two hours. Weather permitting, you will sail into natural grottos and caves formed by the waves crashing into the rock walls.
Along the way to the sea cliffs, you will have Vágar island on your left hand side. The nearest village not far from the cliffs is Saksun lying deep into a narrow strait that leads to a natural tidal lagoon.
In order to reach Vestmanna where the boat the the cliffs depart, you will drive for 40 minutes from Tórshavn or Vágar Airport. There are lots of parking spaces on the harbour in Vestmanna next to where the boat journey to Vestmanna Birds Cliffs start.
Leynar is a picturesque village on the island of Streymoy. On the (few) warm sunny summer days locals will flock to the beach at Leynar to sunbathe.
Streymoy is the largest island of the 18 islands that make up the Faroe Islands. It is situated in the middle of the archipelago and makes up 24% of the total land area and 50% of the entire population. You will find stunning sights on Streymoy island such as the villages Saksun and Tjørnuvík and the tallest waterfall Fossá.
The best known attraction on the island is the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs in the village Vestmanna. Streymoy is connected by roads to two neighbouring islands Vágar island and Eysturoy island by a 5 kilometre (3,1 miles) sub-sea tunnel and a 250 metres (820 feet) bridge, respectively.
The beautiful village of Vestmanna has a great natural harbour, the best wind protected campsite in the Faroe Islands and several great attractions for locals and tourists alike.
Boats to Vestmanna Sea Cliffs, one of the most popular experiences in the Faroe Islands, depart from the harbour in Vestmanna. The harbour is situated just upon arrival in the village.
You will find stunning nature above the village. You can drive on narrow roads to enter lakes that are nestled from 100 metres (328 feet) and up to 350 metres (1148 feet) above sea level.
The highest point Norðradalsskarð on the road leading to Norðradalur is one of the most hearthbreakingly beautiful sights in the Faroe Islands. You will get a great natural panorama with towering mountains and sheer coastline cliffs. Norðradalur translates directly to the Northern Valley.
The small farm village lies on the western side of Streymoy island. The three mountains Fjallið millum Botnar (690 metres), Stiðjafjall (547 metres) and Tungulíðfjall (535 metres) make up the foundation of the valley Norðradalur.
The island Koltur has a beautiful and striking shape. Koltur is the second smallest island in the Faroe Islands. Its highest point is the monumental cone-shaped peak of Kolturshamar also called Uppi á Oyggj (477 m). Rising steeply and intensely green out of the sea during summer, it dominates any view of the island.
Koltur has been visited by only few people. Number of inhabitants living on Koltur island: 1 person.
This might be the only prison in the world with grass roof. Mjørkadalur Prison is the only prison in the Faroe Islands. It is situated in the middle of nowhere in a valley with nothing else than a epic view of the Kaldbaksbotnur Fjord.

You will be picked up in Tórshavn at your Hotel or designated pick up. When you enter the bus, relax and enjoy the sightseeing tour up north to Vestmanna.
You will experience the Oyggjarvegur mountain road that will lead you from Tórshavn to your first stop at Norðradalsskarð mountain pass. You will have a great opportunity to take some great photos of the valley Norðradalur, the winding road, and the small island Koltur a couple of kilometres away from the coast.
Now, you will head further on to the prison in the Faroe Islands. There is only one prison in the country. You will get an empowering view of the fjord Kaldbaksfjørður. When you reach Vestmanna, you will get your boat ticket, which is included in the price.
You will then step aboard the comfortable boat that will sail you to the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs. You will be in the boat for two hours enjoying the nature.
When you return to Vestmanna, you will be greeted with a packed lunch & drinks. You will now eat your lunch.
When returning to Tórshavn, you will stop in the village Kvívík. Some of the first Vikings settled here. You will have the opportunity to go for a stroll in the quiet village.
The tour guide will make sure to stop by untouched places along the way to Tórshavn including the villages Kollafjørður and Leynar. When back in Tórshavn, you will be driven to your hotel or designated drop off.
