This is an authentic fishing experience! You sail in a traditional Faroese boat – the utmost of Faroese handicraft. The Faroese boat was a lifeline of the people that settled the beautiful villages that you see along the coastline. With this boat people discovered the rich fishing grounds. Now you can follow in their footsteps.
You sail from the pier of the Sørvágur marina on Vágar. The fiord Sørvágsfjørður is absolutely beautiful. When you sail out through the fiord you will see spectacular landscapes. You sail close to the the beautiful village of Bøur and procede along the northern shore by Bíggjarskorð. Weather permitting you will approach Gásadalur and sail to the famous waterfall “Múlafossur”. To the south you will see the magnificient islet Tindhólmur and the seastacks Drangarnir. If weather permits you will sail closer to these seastacks and cast your fishing line close by. In this scenic natural amphitheatre we turn off the engine. To the sounds of only the sea and the birds you try your fishing luck!
There are several good fishing areas. Some areas are known for Atlantic cod while in other areas we may encounter Haddock and Whiting. In yet other areas you may encounter the “Reyðfiskur” – a beautiful variation of the Atlantic Cod with red camouflage colors.
Should you be blessed by mother nature with catching, you get to take fish home with you to prepare for a wonderful meal! Nowhere on the planet can you get fish as tasty and fresh as this!
