Wonderful 5 Hour Hike on Streymoy Island

Join a beautiful guided hiking tour to the stunning mountains on Streymoy island. This less-travelled path will secure you uncrowded views of unspoiled nature.

Your tour guide will pick you up 09:00 at your preferred location in the capital, Tórshavn. You will then head out of the city taking the mountain road route to the hike's starting point. This is a photographer’s dream location. You will have a moment to enjoy the panoramic view.

This 10km (6.2 miles) hiking route is know by the locals as the hike Fyri Vestan. In English that is "The hike on the west side" referring to the west side of Streymoy island.

The hike starts at the flat mountain plateau Skeiðsskarð. This terrain is elevated some 300 metres (984 feet) above sea level. In these untouched mountains on Streymoy island, you will walk in one of Faroe Islands'  hidden gems. The valleys and mountains along the route boasts striking views.

On the hike, you will meander the mountains Sornfelli and Skælingur. You will be some 490 metres (1600 feet) above ocean level at the highest. The hike is a bit steep in some places but mostly quite easy to walk. The surface is mainly gravel and grassy.

You will have an undisturbed view of the renowned island Koltur. The views here are particularly picturesque. The same goes for the view of the rock formation Trøllkonufingur, which is located on Vágar island.

The hike ends near the Norðradalsskarð mountain pass. You will have the option to relax here for a while. Take in the gorgeous view over the zig-zag mountain road above the tiny hamlet Norðradalur. It is now time for you to head back to Tórshavn. Expect to be back in Tórshavn at 14:00.

The start point and end point of the hike differs. No worries, though, as your tour guide will make sure that you are picked up at the end of the hike and drive you back to Tórshavn.

It adds to the awesomeness of this tour that it is located so close to the capital Tórshavn. Even though it is centrally located, you will at no time see any sign of cultivated land let alone any buildings. Pure nature is all you get.
