Enjoy a guided hike to Trælanípa only 5 minutes away from Vagar Airport. This iconic cliff is one of the main reasons why travellers visit Faroe Islands. You will join a local guide from the nearest village who has the knowledge and experiences trekking the path to the steep cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the famous lake hanging over the salty sea.

What makes this tour unique is the combination of nature and the local guide, who knows the story, the nature and all the sheep grazing along the path to Trælanípan, the Slave Rock. Tours ar emade each day at 9am, 12pm, and 15pm.

Your tour guide is also a local shepherd and has the needed respect for both the untouched nature and the heights. The guide will show you to the right spot and will make sure that you are safe when you stand on the very edge with awesome photo opportunities. This is one of the best views in the Faroe Islands for landscapes photos.

You will hike along the lake Leitisvatn also known as Sørvágsvatn on your way to Traelanipan. A tour guide is required when experiencing the Lake above the Ocean.

It feels like standing on the very edge of the world when you feel the wind and you witness the beautiful sight that attracts visitors to this remote location. Trælanípa is untouched nature at its best.

The hike to Trælanipa is easy. However, with a risk of fog and taking into account the vertical cliff way above the ocean, you will be thankful for the local advice when hiking to Trælanípan with a experienced guide. The sight from Trealanipa is exceptional during winter also, and you will feel perfectly safe with the local tour guide even though it can be icy.

You will meet the tour guide at the official hiking shed to the Trælanípa. This is the trailhead for this top attraction in the Faroe Islands. The shed is situated just outside the village Miðvágur. You will see a sign saying “Trælanípa” when you get to the church in the village Miðvágur. Follow the sign for 500 metres and you will get to the shed.

From the shed, your tour guide will take you on a hike to one of the most appreciated locations in the Faroe Islands. When you see Trælanípan, you will understand why.

    天気が良く、素晴らしい景色が見れました。

There were no guides available even though we booked far in advance… so we took the walk by ourselves and the view was astonishing!!

  3. Nuno

When arriving at the meeting point (which is the gate to the hiking path) we were told that the tour provider had no tour guide available – Conclusion, there was no guide ready for us.

We end up doing the hike by ourselves (which honestly does not need a guide at all)

The girl was kind enough to give us back the money and we only had to pay the hiking fee
