Hiking from Bøur to Gásadalur

Book this hike to get a great view over the spiky islet Tindhólmur and the villages Bøur and  Gásadalur. At the end of the hike, you will reach the beautiful and famous waterfall Múlafossur. Your tour guide will pick you up in Tórshavn and take you on an adventurous hike to one of the most stunning sights in the Faroe Islands.  Gásadalur is nestled on the edge of a sheer cliff and surrounded by high mountains. Árnafjall mountain peaks at 722 meters to the north and the summit of Eysturtindur mountain is 715 metres at its pinnacle to the east. This charming site has been one of the most isolated villages in the Faroe Islands until a tunnel in 2004 connected the village with the rest of the island's road network. You will do the two hours hike from Bøur to Gásadalur as in the old days before the tunnel to this remote village. Prior to the building of the tunnel, the postman hiked to Gásadalur three times a week from the nearest village Bøur. You will take the same route that will lead you to a track that rises to a height of 430 metres above sea level. This three hour hiking trip begins in the valley some three kilometres west of the village of Bøur. The hike offers amazing views. The first part of the hike quite demanding as the path is pretty steep and runs close to the edge of the mountain. Weather permitting, you will get an outstanding view over Sørvágsfjørður fjord, Tindhólmur islet, and Mykines island. You will find a nice place to rest at Líkstein (Corpse Stone) just as the coffin bearers on their way to Bøur did in the past - a necessity, as there is no cemetery in Gásadalur. Although the villagers lack a  burial ground they proudly show visitors the unspoiled Múlafossur Waterfall that cascades into the North Atlantic Ocean. After you have explored the waterfall in Gásadalur, the tour guide will take you back to Tórshavn and drop you off there. Don't miss out the opportunity to hike to Gásadalur where you will see Múlafossur Waterfall. Check availability by choosing a date.
