The Classic Tour of Vágar

Experience all the classic locations on Vágar, hence the name :) This tour is for those who want to maximise their experience on Vágar Island. So you'll see, Sørvágsvatn, also known as Leitisvatn lake (Lake above the Ocean), you will hike to Trælanípa (the optical illusion spot), Bøsdalafossur (the biggest waterfall in the North Atlantic ocean). You'll then go to the village of Bøur and see the beautiful traditional old church there, and walk between the cute old traditional turf houses where you sometimes see sheep eating grass on top of, and see the architecture and building styles. In Bøur you'll go to the beach there overlooking Drangarnir (the island with the hole in the middle) and Tindhólm (the very narrow island til all the pointy fingers at the top). Finally you'll head to Gásadalur and see the beautiful waterfall Múlafossur that you see on all the postcards. Here you'll see puffins nesting and other birds as well. The tour is 4 hours and the price is calculated after that hour number. We have built this tour so that it is jam packed full with jaw-dropping sights. We cover as much seight-seeing as possible in these 4 hours. Sometimes we need to drop a small part out of the hike, if people are too slow at hiking or need to take too many brakes, which we totally understand. Typically it's the waterfall Bøsdalafossur that we take out of the hike. This is very rare but it is a decision we sometimes need to take in order to keep the timetable and price. You can add a lunchbox for 100 DKK pr person. It includes: Faroese bottled water or hot tee/coffee (you decide. The hot drinks are the bestsellers, since you can drink the water out if the freshwater springs that we will pass by). Some traditional Faroese Food, some classic food, fruit, and something sweet. You can do the Classic Tour upon request. Any day at any time after 10am. You will meet the guide at the gas station Magn in the village of Miðvágur. You can see the meeting point in Google street view. If you want to be picked up at the airport, we will do that at no extra cost. Book this tour and let us know at what time and date you would like to do the tour and we will go on this exciting adventure on the beautiful island of Vágar :) Check availability by choosing a date.

Experience two of the most famous attractions in the Faroe Islands including the amazing sea-stacks Drangarnir and the Múlafossur Waterfall. The boat ride will treat you to an untouched view of these stunningly beautiful sights on Vágar island. The tour starts from the small boat marina in Sørvágur (see map of meeting point. This is not the regular harbour). From there you will sail close to Drangarnir lying majestically between the peaky islet Tindhólmur and the island Vágar. The awesomeness of this impressive natural wonder will give you a true understanding of why this is one of the most admired landmarks in the Faroe Islands. You will even be able to touch the dark basalt and sail through the sea arch itself, weather permitting. Joining the captain on this tour opens a special window into a truly unique place that you will never experience otherwise. Everything about this tour is remarkable. Next, you will head to Múlafossur Waterfall. This natural attraction has become a signature feature of the Faroe Islands. When sailing below to Gásadalur village, the boat will take you literally only few metres from the water that tumbles directly from the cliff's edge into the ocean. From the village Gásadalur, the waterfall Múlafossur simply falls off the island in a breathtaking manner. Take in the amazing view. Expect to also get a breathtaking aerial view of Mykines island. Tours are made throughout the year with departure from the small boat marina (see map) in Sørvágur. The duration of the tour is one hour. This is a small group boat tour. The maximum capacity is eight people. Weather permitting, you can be one of very few people in the world to sail through the arch in Stóri Drangur. This is the larger of the two sea-stacks. The first village on Vágar island that you will stop by is Sandavágur. You will visit the red and white church and go inside the church to see the Runestone found in the nearby Eingjartoftum. The villagers have a fantastic view the Tindhólmur islet and the sea-stacks Drangarnir. The last stop on the tour is Gásadalur - one of the most jaw-dropping attractions in the Faroe Islands. Gásadalur is surrounded by stunning mountains and you will also have a panoramic view towards the puffin island Mykines. Gásadalur is one of the most authentic experiences in the Faroe Islands due to its remoteness. Until very recently, Gásadalur was the only village in the Faroe Islands with no road connection. Hiking from Bøur to Gásadalur

Book this hike to get a great view over the spiky islet Tindhólmur and the villages Bøur and  Gásadalur. At the end of the hike, you will reach the beautiful and famous waterfall Múlafossur. Your tour guide will pick you up in Tórshavn and take you on an adventurous hike to one of the most stunning sights in the Faroe Islands.  Gásadalur is nestled on the edge of a sheer cliff and surrounded by high mountains. Árnafjall mountain peaks at 722 meters to the north and the summit of Eysturtindur mountain is 715 metres at its pinnacle to the east. This charming site has been one of the most isolated villages in the Faroe Islands until a tunnel in 2004 connected the village with the rest of the island's road network. You will do the two hours hike from Bøur to Gásadalur as in the old days before the tunnel to this remote village. Prior to the building of the tunnel, the postman hiked to Gásadalur three times a week from the nearest village Bøur. You will take the same route that will lead you to a track that rises to a height of 430 metres above sea level. This three hour hiking trip begins in the valley some three kilometres west of the village of Bøur. The hike offers amazing views. The first part of the hike quite demanding as the path is pretty steep and runs close to the edge of the mountain. Weather permitting, you will get an outstanding view over Sørvágsfjørður fjord, Tindhólmur islet, and Mykines island. You will find a nice place to rest at Líkstein (Corpse Stone) just as the coffin bearers on their way to Bøur did in the past - a necessity, as there is no cemetery in Gásadalur. Although the villagers lack a  burial ground they proudly show visitors the unspoiled Múlafossur Waterfall that cascades into the North Atlantic Ocean. After you have explored the waterfall in Gásadalur, the tour guide will take you back to Tórshavn and drop you off there. Don't miss out the opportunity to hike to Gásadalur where you will see Múlafossur Waterfall. Check availability by choosing a date.

The awesomeness of this impressive natural wonder will give you a true understanding of why this is one of the most admired landmarks in the Faroe Islands. You will even be able to touch the dark basalt and sail through the sea arch itself, weather permitting. Tjørnuvík is best beach for surfing in the Faroe Islands. In Tjørnuvík there will be the option to get coffee, tea and pancakes from a very nice local man. Risin & Kellingin, You will follow The Giant and The Witch cliffs around the village of Eiði and see them from the other side on your way to Gjógv. These giants also have quite the story to tell. Gjógv, the iconic little village built around the gorge. On your way you will pass the highest mountain in the Faroes, Slættaratindur. Funningur, you will drive down the entertaining zig-zag road that you might have seen on photos. Funningur is a lovely quiet village. Saksun, Seeing that Saksun is one of the Faroe Islands top destinations. Here we'll hike up above the village and look down upon the village and church above the laguna and we'll hike down to the church normally we'll have a little brake here. Kirkjubøur, In Kirkjubøur you will have a look at the historic Kirkjubøur Wall. The stone wall is the only wall of that size from that time in history that is located this far north. So it is quite spectacular. Tórshavn, you'll have a look at the old town Reyn with all the cute traditional houses and see the old red parliament buildings called Tinganes down by the harbour. You have the option of being dropped off/picked up in Tórshavn. There will of course also be opportunities to do other short stops on your way if you see something that you want to soak in for a moment. This is a laid back fun experience. The tour guide will bring warm tea and coffee and some Faroese delicacy to taste as well, and just have a fun and relaxing day with you. All the hikes are short and very easy, a good fit for any traveler. We do how ever recomend you rather use your time soaking in the experience than rushing allong. So some stops we recommend you cut out for a more pleasant relaxing day. Because not all sights are created equal and are as magical, some are more historical etc. But it's all up to you what you choose. Now, don't hesitate booking this classic tour where you will experience as much of the Faroe Islands in one day as possible. Check availability by choosing a date.
