Hiking to Kallur Lighthouse | Experience the Northern Islands
Reach the fantastic scenery at Kallur Lighthouse or simply Kallurin. When in the Faroe Islands, you want to experience the great hike and stunning sight at Kallur Lighthouse. To the west you see the island Eysturoy and to the east you see the north side of the islands Kunoy and Viðoy. You will join a local guide to Kallur Lighthouse. Besides giving you insights to his vast knowledge, the guide will make sure that you hike safe and that you will get the best view possible at Kallur. When back in Trøllanes you will have your packed lunch. After you have finished your packed lunch you will experience Kópakonan or the Sealwoman by the seaside in the village Mikladalur. Day Tour to Kalsoy and Kallur Lighthouse

On this tour you will first drive from Tórshavn to Klaksvík, the second biggest town in the Faroe Islands very much anchored in its fishing tradition. From Klaksvík you will take the ferry to Syðradal on Kallsoy. You will wait in the ferry line for an hour in order to be secured a space for th ecar on th esmall ferry. Arriving to Kallsoy you will make your way north on the only road on this sparsely populated island. Only 150 inhabitants dwell here year round, but the island is well served by infrastructure featuring several road tunnels connecting the four villages on this island. You will drive north to Mikladal to visit the Seal Woman, a statue by the shore of the village Mikladalur which represent the seal woman who, according to ancient Faroese legend, was forced to live with a human, but who all the time was longing to get back to live in the sea as a seal. By the northern most village on the island, Trøllanes, you will go off-road and head for the lighthouse on foot. This is a medium mountain hike and the first part of the trail requires some effort. There is no path, but you are walking on grass and stony surface. It is highly recommended to follow your tour guide and do not undertake the hike on your own unless you are an experienced hiker. On your way up to the lighthouse you are likely to pass sheep, mountain dwelling birds and maybe you can spot occasional hare. Underneath you is the Atlantic ocean populated by seals and whales. The view by the lighthouse is absolute breathtaking and entirely unique. To the south you see the vertical side of the 537 m high mountain Borgarin. To the west you see Eysturoy and to the east you see the north side of Kunoy and Viðoy. At the end of the day, you will head back to Tórshavn. You will spend some time at the ferry harbour on Kalsoy island to secure yourself a space for the ferry back to Klaksvík.
